Location: Fort Augustus

About The Role

The role is part of the Environmental Sustainability team on the Skye Reinforcement Project and will support the delivery of environmental sustainability activities on a significant construction project, across a wide variety of environmental aspects that are unique to this infrastructure project. The role combines hands‑on operational delivery with influence on a construction project in an exceptional geographical area.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Managing environmental risks & opportunities by providing on‑site advice to operations and design teams on environmental management, compliance and project‑specific mitigation measures including pollution control and ecological and archaeological protection.
  • Produce and update environmental management plans, environmental risk assessments and site information packs.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, contractual and ISO
    14001 requirements, including directing and supporting project teams in the preparation of consents, licences and permits.
  • Collect, validate and analyse environmental data.
  • Provide technical advice via various mediums to a variety of audiences.
  • Conduct inspections, audits and reviews; facilitate external audits and report findings to the Project Team.
  • Deliver environmental guidance and training, including toolbox talks and on‑site coaching.
  • Investigate environmental incidents.
Who We're Looking For
  • Full driving licence and flexibility to travel.
  • Educated to degree level or able to demonstrate equivalent competence.
Experience In Environmental Science or Environmental Management or Other Applicable Disciplines
  • Affiliation or membership level of a relevant professional body (IEMA, CIEEM, CIWEM) or ability to demonstrate equivalent experience and competence.
  • Good knowledge of environmental management and sustainable development, with relevant experience working in a construction or other operational‑focused environment desirable.
  • Practical experience and knowledge of environmental statutory requirements, including legislation & regulation, ISO
    14001, pollution prevention and wider environmental good practice.
  • Ability to work within multi‑disciplinary teams and support embedding environmental sustainability into project delivery.
