Assistant Civils Site Engineer

Where will you be working? At M Group Energy, were enabling the energy essential to support our lives. We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation. This role will be within our Transmission & Renewables team. We design, build and commission substations at voltages up to and including 400kV. Our teams construct and maintain transmission lines and substations, ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of electricity.

What will you be doing:
Were recruiting for an Assistant Civils Site Engineer to join us on our Rotherham substations site! This is an entry-level role, open to candidates at any stage of their career. Youll be based primarily on site in Rotherham, spending as much time as possible on the ground to build your practical experience. As you develop, youll also attend remote ends and additional sites as required.

Undertake training as required in order to learn the principles of 400/275/132kV substation construction & design. Gain an appreciation of the planning, preparation, and Implementation aspects of substation work To undertake periods of study to gain a nationally recognised qualification. Periods in between attending college will be spent on site developing work-based skills Promote safety, health, and environmental initiatives e.g., Home Safe Every Day, throughout all projects within Transmission Networks Ensure M Group's and the Client's standards are met/exceeded to at all times Actively promote the reporting of Safety Observation Reports.

(SORS) Assist with undertaking monitoring and inspections in accordance with the site Safety Management System audit schedule to ensure all team are working to required documentation. Assist with the monitoring of work quality throughout and participate in inspections, in line with the Site Quality Plan Report and provide feedback to the Site Management team of any quality related issues Report and provide feedback to the Site Management team of any environmental related issues Contact point for correspondence and meetings with third parties e.g., surveys, design, environmental consultants, utilities, services, etc Attend daily progress meeting and is responsible for ensuring that all information is communicated to the appropriate Task allocator Supervision of sub-contractors as requested and when trained to do so Attend weekly safety dial in meeting In accordance with our certification to the ISO 9001/14001/45001 standards, each employee will comply with and contribute to the effective implementation of the current health and safety, quality and environmental policies Maintain excellent levels of communication throughout the team and the wider business Work towards Civils Site Engineer Competencies.

What youll bring Willing to travel to all operational sites throughout the UK and hold a full driving licence Self-motivated and possesses good organisational and communication skills Team player Able to follow instructions both written & verbal whilst challenging any instructions you feel is unsafe or do not understand Computer literate Basic knowledge of Health & Safety principles 5 x GCSEs Grade C or above or equivalent, including English, Science & Math's or a Level 2 Apprenticeship Staying away from home during the week Possibility of weekend works on a one on one off basis
