Design Manager

About The Role

At Balfour Beatty we deliver some of the UK’s most complex, critical and nationally significant infrastructure and construction projects. We are seeking an experienced and driven Design Manager to join our team in Derby, supporting the successful delivery of a major project for Rolls‑Royce.

As a Design Manager you will:

• Manage the design process from pre‑construction through to project delivery
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams and specialist consultants
• Ensure designs are compliant, buildable, cost‑effective, and delivered on programme
• Drive design risk management and technical assurance processes
• Work closely with operational, commercial and client teams to achieve successful project outcomes
• Lead design reviews, workshops and stakeholder engagement activities

• Proven experience as a Design Manager within construction or major infrastructure projects
• Strong understanding of design coordination and project delivery processes
• Experience working within highly regulated or technically complex environments is advantageous
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead collaborative teams effectively

• Smart working with up to 40% remote working where roles allow
