About Demcon  Demcon Focal is a high-tech development and engineering partner with a deep-rooted fascination for light, precision, and advanced imaging systems. We specialize in creating customized optomechatronic and vision systems, supporting our customers from the initial concept through to final assembly. By integrating optics/photonics, optomechanics and software into coherent and robust solutions, we enable technological progress in the most demanding applications.

In doing so, we build on our extensive and fundamental knowledge of the properties of light.
What are you going to do?  You will be responsible for designing optics & vision systems, performing trade-off studies, for example cost-benefit analysis, accuracy and throughput, and develop algorithms for information extraction. You will be involved in the full life cycle of product development, and you will contribute to the verification and qualification of the created solution in our vision lab or on-site.

You play an important role as a sparring partner for your colleagues in a strongly interactive, multidisciplinary environment.
Together with a project manager, you oversee and manage the process from quotation to implementation at the client's site. Typically, you take the role of domain specialist. You monitor technical progress, planning, and budget and take action where necessary. You ensure good communication with the client, cohesion within the project team, and internal coordination within Demcon.
Typical applications include, but are not limited to:
Camera set-ups for product inspection
Object recognition and tracking
Vision probing systems for precision measurements of dimensions and distances, 3D coordinates, surface defects, or surface metrology
Illumination set-ups for high-precision image acquisition, industrial lighting or computer vision applications
Calibration strategies for precision measurements, e.g. dot patterns for MTF estimations
/sensor selection, computer vision, machine learning, artificial intelligence, illumination, image processing
What do you bring to the table?
PhD or MSc in electronics, physics, computer science or other comparable qualification
Minimum 2 years of working experience in either optical or vision engineering and signal processing, statistics
Hands‑on experience in vision applications using Halcon, Python, C#
Conceptual ability, persuasiveness, courage to make decisions and you can think “out-of-the-box”

A competitive salary between €42,000 and €60,000 per year (excluding 8% holiday pay), depending on your experience
