Job Description & How to Apply Below
Engineering Doctorate (EngD) Programs in Data, Software & Systems Design
We are an internationally top‑ranking university in the Netherlands. The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science (M&CS) is the largest department of the TU/e, with over 140 professors, 250 PhD and EngD students and more than 3,000 students. Our EngD programs combine top‑level research with strong industry ties and offer a full‑time, two‑year, fully funded, tuition‑free post‑master’s program leading to an Engineering Doctorate (EngD) degree.

What We Offer
Our EngD programs are run in close collaboration with leading companies such as ASML, Philips, Unilever, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Canon Production Printing, DAF Trucks and many others. Trainees gain real‑world experience and lead large‑scale, interdisciplinary design projects in the Jheronimus Academy of Data Science (JADS) ecosystem located in ’s‑Hertogenbosch. The program offers a paid position, high‑level professional development, an excellent technical infrastructure, and support for commuting, working from home and internet costs.

Tracks
1. Data Science
Data Science focuses on designing and developing data‑driven and AI‑enabled solutions for complex real‑world challenges. Trainees learn to:

Collect, structure, analyze and interpret complex datasets.

Design, develop and deploy scalable machine learning and AI solutions.

Operationalise data products using modern data engineering and MLOps practices.

Translate data‑driven insights into valuable solutions for stakeholders.

2. Software Technology
Software is essential for almost all modern products and services. This track focuses on advanced software design and system architecture for software‑intensive high‑tech systems, preparing graduates for the demanding requirements of multinational companies.

3. Automotive & Mechatronic Systems Design
Automotive and mechatronics require multidisciplinary product and process innovation. This track develops system‑level thinking, hardware‑software integration and cross‑disciplinary collaboration to lead innovation in robotics, automation, manufacturing and smart mobility solutions.
