As our mining and metals activities continue to grow, we’re seeking a mining engineer to join our high‑performing mining team.

You’ll have the opportunity to work on a wide range of challenging projects and help with sustaining and growth projects, working closely with BBA and client teams to deliver practical solutions to complex mining challenges.

Ideally, you’ll be an underground mining professional with an interest in consulting and client engagement within the base and precious metals sector. You’ll be a dynamic, creative and innovative mining engineer committed to delivering high‑quality services to a growing client base.

  • Provide mining engineering and design services for underground mine studies, including scoping, prefeasibility, feasibility, detailed design and NI 43‑101 technical reports:
    • Importing block models
    • Selecting underground mining methods
    • Calculating cut‑off grades
    • Optimizing underground stopes and developing mine designs
    • Preparing mine plans and production schedules
    • Calculating equipment fleets
    • Evaluating mineral reserves
    • Calculating capital and operating costs
    • Contributing to financial models
    • Writing and contributing to study reports
  • Work closely with our geology, ventilation, rock mechanics, drill‑and‑blast and infrastructure teams
  • Manage the mining scope of large projects
  • Liaise with clients on technical matters and present results professionally
  • Deliver high‑quality services that uphold BBA’s professional reputation
  • Mentor junior mining engineering staff

Summary of Certifications and

Job Requirements
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in mining or geological engineering from a recognized university
  • Experience working at a mining operation, in engineering and/or in project evaluation
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience
  • Member of the OIQ or eligible to register with a professional association for engineers
  • Advanced proficiency with underground mine design and planning software (Deswik preferred)
  • Experience selecting mine equipment and estimating capital and operating costs
  • Working knowledge of budgeting, scheduling and financial modelling
  • Understanding of the key components required for a successful mining operation (processing, tailings, infrastructure)
  • Passion and aptitude for mentoring, training and sharing knowledge with other engineers
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, written and spoken
  • Enthusiasm for business development and the growth of the firm
  • Advanced English skills to facilitate collaboration with other BBA offices and/or clients in English‑speaking Canadian provinces and internationally; use of English occasionally or daily, depending on current projects
  • Advanced French skills to facilitate collaboration with other BBA offices and/or clients in Québec
  • Ability to communicate with colleagues and clients in a professional and technical manner
  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally, for varying durations and occasionally to remote locations
  • Intermediate Spanish skills to facilitate collaboration with other BBA offices and/or clients in South America; use of Spanish occasionally or daily, depending on current projects
