ARX is seeking a dynamic Lead Structural/Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Toronto and help build and expand our Canadian engineering team. This role requires a technically credible professional who is willing to remain directly involved in projects, while also taking an active role in generating, developing, and managing business across Canada. The successful candidate will combine strong structural and/or geotechnical expertise with the ability to build trusted client relationships, identify and secure new opportunities, lead high-profile assignments, and contribute to the long-term growth of ARX in the region.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Create, recruit, onboard, and progressively expand the Toronto engineering team in line with project needs and business growth.
- Mentor and train junior engineers to help them develop their skills and expertise in structural engineering for underground structures.
- Act as a trusted technical counterpart for clients, remain actively involved in project execution, and resolve project-related technical and commercial issues.
- Identify, develop, and manage business opportunities, supporting proposals, client engagement, and the conversion of opportunities into secured projects.
- Develop design and analysis of complex underground structures, such as tunnels, caverns, and underground transit systems.
- Develop and review construction plans, drawings, and specifications for underground structures, and supervise the work of junior and mid-level engineers and technicians.
- Monitor construction activities to ensure that they are in compliance with the design plans and specifications and resolve any construction-related issues which might arise during the project.
Qualifications
- P.Eng license in Ontario required.
- Canadian citizenship required.
- Familiarity with CSA codes and Canadian engineering standards.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Mining, or Geotechnical Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years related experience in technical roles on infrastructure/heavy civil engineering in Canada. Underground Construction works experience preferred.
- Ability in FEM modeling and structural verifications of temporary support of excavation, reinforced concrete, and steelwork.
§ Demonstrated ability to combine strong technical judgment with hands-on project involvement, client-facing leadership, and business development responsibilities.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% of her/his work time to support projects across Canada.
