Role overviewAt Zurich, our Engineer Surveyor workforce is central to our continued success, being the ‘Face of Zurich’ to our large and varied client base. You’ll find a fully flexible offering that means you can manage your own diary to service your own client area. This will allow you to broker and develop your relationships while representing Zurich Engineering.
No two days will ever be the same. You’ll work in a variety of interesting environments and have control over your own work/life balance.
Our Engineer Surveyor roles allow you to develop your mechanical engineering skills further and work for a market‑leading engineering inspection provider.
We are looking to expand our highly skilled field‑based Engineer Surveyor team and we have a vacancy for the Cumbria area for a Lift and Crane Engineer Surveyor.
ResponsibilitiesYou’ll start with industry‑leading, bespoke training and then carry out hands‑on statutory inspections, providing your expert opinion on a wide range of equipment. This enables clients to comply with relevant legislation and standards. After inspections, you will report using a rugged laptop, issue electronically to clients, and demonstrate good IT skills and literacy. You will be an excellent communicator and confident in making sound engineering judgments.
Qualifications& Experience
You will be an experienced engineer with a sound knowledge of your engineering discipline and will be part of a multi‑disciplined inspection team within your geographic area. You will report to a Team Manager and work from home with client base within reasonable travel distance.
Because this role is SAFed governed, we ideally require:
- Level 4 qualification (HND/HNC etc.) in a relevant engineering field, or minimum Level 3 – training will be offered
- Time‑served or Modern Apprenticeship
- Hands‑on experience in a relevant engineering discipline
- Background with lifts and/or crane equipment (manufacturing, repair, maintenance, mechanical, motor trade)
- Full valid UK driving licence
- Willingness to work paid overtime
We offer a flexible benefits package to fit different needs, including a 12% defined non‑contributory pension scheme, annual company bonus, private medical insurance and the option to buy up to an additional 20 days or sell holiday.
Inclusive HiringAs an inclusive employer we want to ensure all candidates feel comfortable and can perform at their best during the interview. You can inform us of any reasonable adjustment or practical support needed when you apply.
