Overview
WSP is recruiting a Digital Engineer for the Roads team in Leeds, Newcastle, Stockton, Carlisle, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Perth. The role is open to engineers at various stages of their career and focuses on delivering high‑quality highway and infrastructure solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Design and deliver highway solutions, including access roads, haul roads, and local highway improvements.
- Apply digital automation, data‑driven design, and computational tools (e.g., AI‑assisted workflows, Python, C++, Dynamo) to improve delivery.
- Improve design efficiency, coordination, quality, and carbon performance through digital tools and automation.
- Reduce repetitive manual effort and improve data reliability via scripting, data pipelines, and model‑driven workflows.
- Collaborate with Project and Technical Delivery teams, supporting carbon measurement under WSP’s Future Ready programme.
- Develop and maintain reusable digital tools, scripts, templates, and documentation.
- Use Microsoft Azure and the Power Platform (Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate), alongside Python, to create integrated, data‑driven workflows.
- Support digital delivery within BIM and CDE environments (e.g., Project Wise, Autodesk Forma/ACC) in line with ISO 19650 and CAD QA/QC processes.
- Contribute to compliance with Health & Safety, environmental legislation, and in‑house quality assurance.
- Participate in knowledge sharing, mentoring, and continuous improvement initiatives, supporting digital engineering standards and best practice.
- Integrate emerging digital technologies (GIS, digital twins, IoT) into infrastructure project delivery where appropriate.
- Understanding of highway engineering principles.
- Knowledge of relevant design standards and codes (Design Manual for Roads & Bridges, Manual for Streets, TSRGD, Local Authority guidance).
- Experience with data handling in MS Excel or other data‑based systems.
- Strong communication skills for engagement with clients, developers, consultants, elected representatives, and the public.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
