As a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager in our Bridges and Civils team within our Transportation business, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of transportation. We work on a diverse range of significant and challenging projects across the UK and Ireland, including Midlands Rail Hub, East West Rail, Lower Thames Crossing and a variety of National Highways Schemes.

The team also supports non‑transportation civil engineering and structures projects throughout the UK and internationally such as the Water Market or Nuclear schemes including the Rolls‑Royce Small Modular Reactor programme. Locally in the Midlands we deliver a range of local authority projects for councils such as Warwickshire, Herefordshire, Solihull, Coventry and Birmingham. You will create high‑quality civil and structural designs for new builds, renewals, maintenance and assessments.

Your role
  • Take pride in managing high‑quality civil and structural designs for new constructions, renewals, maintenance and assessments across sectors.
  • Collaborate with national and international design teams, using your expertise and leadership to create positive sustainable impacts on society and the environment.
  • Manage the production and review of high‑quality design documentation, including sketches, drawings, calculations, reports and specifications.
  • Independently carry out project management work and provide guidance to junior staff members.
  • Lead teams in the design, assessment and maintenance of structural or railway civil engineering projects, multi‑disciplinary projects, bridges projects or work with other disciplines.
  • Develop and agree scopes and manage the internal technical supply chain, including budgets, programme and quality of deliverables.
  • Lead bids and tenders, win work and develop client relationships.
About You
  • A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related discipline and practical experience of civil engineering or structures projects.
  • A professional qualification such as CEng/IEng, membership of ICE or IStructE, or a professional project management qualification.
  • Practical experience of managing transportation projects.
  • Experience working with key clients such as Network Rail, HS2, local authorities or major contractors and developers.
  • NEC 4 Project Management Accreditation or demonstrable experience managing NEC 4 projects.
  • Experience of bidding and winning work.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to converse with a wide range of clients, stakeholders and colleagues across engineering disciplines.
  • Good project management skills, commercial awareness, financial control and ability to deliver across a range of contract types, including managing stakeholders such as specialist suppliers, independent checkers and local authorities.
