OverviewYou will join a small team responsible for a substantial portfolio of mineral extraction and processing sites, rural estates, and other related land assets across the UK. The role focuses on securing future mineral supply and processing capabilities as part of our long‑term mineral development plan.
Responsibilities- Manage and assist the development of the Sibelco UK Mineral Estate portfolio, comprising freehold, leasehold and optioned land.
- Assist the acquisition of new mineral reserves for the sand and clay businesses in the UK.
- Work closely with landowners and agents to advance land acquisition targets and planning applications.
- Promote strategic land assets within Local Development Plans and represent the company’s interests at public examinations when required.
- Engage with local planning authorities, discuss development proposals through formal and informal routes.
- Advise operational and commercial colleagues on site development, estate management, planning, and environmental issues linked to UK assets.
- Maintain and develop the UK land asset database and feed data into the company’s GIS system.
- Contribute to planning projects and associated Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA).
- Manage and instruct consultancy teams according to company procedures.
- Engage stakeholders and participate in local liaison events at UK sites to keep local communities informed.
- Assist with the implementation of policies, strategies and guidelines from Global Sustainability.
- Ideally a Chartered Minerals Surveyor with an RICS qualification or a Chartered Town Planner with an RTPI qualification.
- Experience working in the extractive industry.
- Ability to build rapport with a variety of stakeholders.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint (advanced level).
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem‑solving ability with agility and a proactive approach.
- Effective time‑management skills and the ability to handle multiple pressurised deadlines.
- Organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel around UK sites; occasional overseas travel may be required.
