About The Role

Site Engineer – Cabling (Power T&D)

Assington, Suffolk – BTNO Project | Site-based

Balfour Beatty is looking for a Site Engineer – Cabling to join our Power Transmission & Distribution (T&D) team, supporting delivery on the BTNO project in Assington.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering critical infrastructure, supporting the safe and efficient installation of high‑voltage cabling works.

As a Site Engineer, you will work alongside the Project Manager, Project Engineer, and wider project team, supporting successful project delivery through planning, coordination, monitoring, and handover activities.

You will ensure engineered solutions are understood and implemented on site, setting teams to work and driving a right‑first‑time approach to delivery, while maintaining focus on safety, quality, programme, and cost.

What you’ll be doing

Key Responsibilities Engineering & Delivery
  • Interpret drawings and technical information to support site delivery
  • Ensure works are carried out in line with design, specifications, and programme
  • Supervise site activities and support coordination of cabling works
Health, Safety & Compliance
  • Promote and maintain a strong Zero Harm culture
  • Support RAMS preparation and ensure safe systems of work are followed
  • Monitor compliance, identify risks, and support incident responses
  • Assist with audits, inspections, and safety initiatives
Planning & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate records including progress reports and site diaries
  • Support short‑term planning and monitor daily/weekly progress
  • Contribute to project reviews and reporting requirements
Stakeholder & Supply Chain
  • Support management of subcontractors and site teams
  • Liaise with internal functions, stakeholders, and delivery teams
  • Assist with material requisitions and supply chain coordination
Quality & Performance
  • Ensure works meet required quality standards and KPIs
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and site performance tracking
Who we’re looking for
  • Experience in a Site Engineer role within cabling, civil engineering, or Power T&D projects
  • Understanding of construction and engineering delivery processes
  • Experience implementing safe systems of work
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage workload and work effectively on site
Desirable
  • Formal qualification in engineering/construction or equivalent experience
  • CSCS and SSSTS (or equivalent)
  • Experience working on infrastructure or utilities projects
