Project Manager – Africa Millimetre Telescope
Employment: 1.0 FTE
Location:
Netherlands (based in the Netherlands; work on the AMT project in Namibia)
Gross monthly salary: €4,728 – €6,433

Responsibilities
Support the construction and commissioning of the Africa Millimetre Telescope (AMT).
Coordinate technical, logistical and organisational processes required for successful project completion.
Plan, execute and monitor project activities with a focus on supplier coordination, system integration and overall project control.
Work closely with the project director, technical teams and international partners to ensure seamless collaboration.
Report project status and risks to the project director and relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in engineering, physics, project management or a related technical field.
Proven experience in project management within complex technical or engineering projects.
Strong organisational and coordination skills with attention to detail.
Experience working with suppliers, contractors and procurement processes.
Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken).
Ability to work effectively in an international and interdisciplinary environment.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience with large‑scale scientific infrastructure projects (e.g., astronomy, space, physics).
Familiarity with systems engineering and integration processes.
Experience with project management tools and methodologies such as PRINCE2 or Agile.
What we offer
Temporary employment contract of 3 years.
Salary determined within salary scale 11 based on education and relevant work experience (38‑hour working week).
8 % holiday allowance and 8.3 % end‑of‑year bonus.
Annual leave of 30 or 41 days (instead of statutory 20) for full‑time employees.

Where you will be working
The AMT project is embedded in the Radboud Radio Lab (RRL), part of the Faculty of Science at Radboud University, which develops instrumentation for astronomical research and collaborates with projects such as Black Gem, the Pierre Auger Observatory, NCLE, Solar Orbiter and ESA’s Terae Novae moon programme.
