Role Overview

The Technical Interface Manager (TIM) will support the Head of Technical Interface in owning, managing and coordinating technical interfaces with the relevant parties, ensuring good and timely communication for the assets listed above. The role involves coordinating interfaces across all project stages and consistently applying lessons learned from other projects.

Responsibilities
  • Work with SCS Asset Teams and Design House to identify technical interfaces for each project stage, producing and regularly reviewing the Asset Technical Interface Management Plan (ASIMP) for Design, Construction and Handover stages.
  • Own and maintain the SharePoint Technical Interface Register, ensuring all interfaces are identified, tracked and closed out in line with the project Cl.32 programme, and undertake regular reviews with design and construction teams.
  • Utilise the Interface Register to classify and prioritise interfaces, ensuring relevant Interface Control Documents are produced timely to meet programme milestones.
  • Engage cross‑functional resources to ensure deliverables are produced on schedule.
  • Hold regular technical interface meetings with design, construction and interfacing parties to manage interfaces and meet programme milestones.
  • Resolve interface issues through the NEC Contract in collaboration with Asset Teams, communicating risks and mitigation measures to Area Directors and the Head of Technical Interface.
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with relevant parties to support interface progression and close‑out.
  • Assist the Head of Technical Interface in developing and implementing plans and processes to deliver the above.
  • Ensure compliance with HS2 and other relevant parties’ arrangements for managing technical interfaces and transitions with other contractors, establishing clear roles and responsibilities.
  • Produce weekly/monthly reports detailing usage of the SharePoint Interface Register and asset interface issues that may impact works, proposing mitigation actions.
  • Advise on the use of appropriate technology, including BIM, GIS and SharePoint, to facilitate effective interface management and communication.
  • Take the lead on coordinating the interface between the SCS team and:
    • S3

      Euston Station (Area East)
    • Railway systems (HRS & rolling stock)
    • OSD (Lend lease communing via/with LOR), HS2 – working with Skanska, Costain and STRABAG.
Qualifications
  • Degree qualified in Civil, Construction, Building, or MEP Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Preferred technical interface experience in Construction, Rail or TfL environments.
  • Experience solving engineering problems in a professional environment.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships and effective communication channels in a high‑pressure, time‑sensitive environment.
  • Strong communication and management skills.
  • Ability to chair meetings, organise teams and ensure minutes are recorded.
  • Experience using various Document Control Systems – current training available for Asset Wise, eB, CEMAR.
  • Experience of the NEC Contract.
  • Experience of Project Delivery across design, construction and/or handover phases.
Project Context

HS2 is the UK’s new high‑speed rail network, delivering twin‑bored tunnels, SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, service diversions, earthworks and site compound construction as part of the London Tunnels Contract (Skanska, Costain, STRABAG JV). The TIM will work on this project.
