Our client, a global leading gold mining organization , is seeking a Permitting Project Scheduler to support the Construction, Environmental Permitting, and Major Projects teams across a portfolio of mine development and expansion projects throughout Canada.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the planning and advancement of some of Canada's most significant mining capital projects, supporting activities from environmental permitting through construction execution. The incumbent is responsible for planning, developing, and coordinating activities related to obtaining environmental permits for major projects. They will work closely with the Environmental Permitting Major Projects team to support, develop and plan permit acquisition processes and coordinate milestones with construction-side project planners.
The incumbent will also support certain mining operations in developing and tracking schedules for smaller-scale projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Permitting Scheduler
• In collaboration with the Environmental Permitting – Major Projects team, develop a permitting activity scheduling strategy.
• Identify critical milestones within the permitting acquisition process.
• Ensure effective communication and information transfer between the permitting schedule and the construction group’s master project schedule.
• Coordinate planning and progress meetings with the Environmental Permitting – Major Projects team and external stakeholders and update the schedule accordingly.

Project Scheduler
• Develop and maintain the master schedule by detailing the sequence of all required activities to ensure a realistic and competitive timeline.
• Develop and update detailed schedules aligned with construction activities and procurement/work packages.
• Prepare and update progress curves and contractual performance indicators.
• Monitor the progress of critical tasks/activities and delays impacting the project.
• Analyze the critical path and constraints to assess the impact of schedule changes.
• Propose alternative solutions to mitigate delays and recover schedule slippage.
• Coordinate planning and progress meetings with construction managers/site supervisors and update the construction schedule accordingly.
• Review, analyze, and update contractors’ manpower curves and ensure alignment with schedule requirements.
• Generate daily/weekly/monthly performance reports, including analysis, to monitor performance and enable proactive actions to manage and mitigate risks related to project execution.
• Support project teams in developing schedule-related strategies.
• Proactively identify scheduling issues or conflicts and assist the project team in effectively resolving them.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
• College diploma or university degree
• Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a scheduler
• Primavera and MS Project
• Experience with planning and scheduling, as well as engineering and construction experience
• Self-directed individual with the ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
