As a Senior/Principal Engineer at WSP you will drive the delivery of civil and bridge engineering projects, ensuring quality within time and budget. You will use your expertise to mentor and support junior team members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design bridges in the UK and overseas.
  • Bridge management.
  • Bridge strengthening and repair, inspections and assessments.
  • Provide general civil and structural engineering support to other teams.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and options appraisals.
  • Prepare documents, reports, health and safety risk assessments, scheme designs and drawings, feasibility studies and outline cost estimates.
  • Prepare fee estimates.
  • Supervise junior members of the team and CAD technicians.
Qualifications
  • Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer.
  • Practical experience in bridge design, maintenance and assessment from both construction sites and the design office.
  • Project management experience of bridge projects.
  • Knowledge of design, maintenance and supervision of structures with a track record of innovation in design and management of structures, including new build, maintenance, assessment and strengthening of bridges and civil infrastructure.
  • Proficient in the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCDHW) for structural schemes.
  • Understanding and application of Eurocodes to bridge design.
  • Experience with steel, reinforced and prestressed concrete bridge structures.
  • Experience with grillage, space frame and finite element analysis software such as LUSAS, Superstress and SAM.
  • Strong communication, client handling and interpersonal skills with a willingness to adapt to new challenges and participate in team development.
