Job Description
WSP is seeking an enthusiastic and talented Assistant Road Engineer to join the Roads team based in Scotland. The team delivers highway consultancy services to support clients through all stages of the project life‑cycle from feasibility and concept design through to planning, detailed design, and construction.
Performance Audit GroupThe Performance Audit Group (PAG) is an independent private‑sector organisation employed by Transport Scotland that monitors the performance of the Operating Companies. As part of PAG, the role is a Trainee Site Technician, providing assistance for inspections, auditing, and monitoring in accordance with programmes agreed with the Employer.
Key Tasks- Assist with inspection, auditing and monitoring of asset inventory collection and updating for a roads network.
- Assist with inspection, auditing and monitoring to assess the effectiveness and contractual compliance of Suppliers in respect of inspection regimes set out in Employer contracts.
- Assist with the issuance of notices based on site inspections and observations in accordance with Supplier contracts.
- Assist with verifying that Supplier records are accurate and confirm that works have been carried out in accordance with Specifications and other contract documentation.
- Assist with verifying that quantities and values claimed by Suppliers are true records.
- Contribute to reports required by the Employer.
- Be conversant with and understand the relevant parts of Supplier contracts.
- HNC/HND and limited experience.
- Basic experience with structured training.
- Specified level of experience of inspecting, monitoring and reporting on Supplier compliance with contracts, specifications and good practice associated with the construction, management and maintenance of roads and structures.
- Basic knowledge of maintenance and construction works associated with the construction, management and maintenance of a roads network.
