Support the Technical Manager as Deputy Technical Manager in the new Inspection Qualification Services unit, delivering independent qualification of NDT procedures, personnel and equipment in safety‑critical sectors such as nuclear and defence, in line with ISO
17020.
- Provide technical leadership for qualification activities across the team.
- Act as technical authority applying Level3 expertise to ensure compliance and technical validity.
- Maintain ISO
17020 compliance, independence and impartiality. - Support review of incoming work to ensure technical capability.
- Oversee inspection and qualification activities for compliance with procedures and the management system.
- Contribute to management system development, implementation and maintenance.
- Assist with internal and external audit activities and remediate non‑conformances.
- Ensure safe, planned and methodical execution of activities.
- Provide technical input to proposals and business development proposals.
- Minimum of two NDT Level3 certifications in accordance with ISO
9712 (e.g., CSWIP or PCN). - Strong knowledge of ultrasonic techniques (UT, PAUT) mandatory and eddy current (ET) highly desirable.
- Experience in nuclear, defence or other high‑integrity sectors.
- Experience delivering complex technical projects.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to operate within a structured quality and compliance framework.
Short‑term UK and overseas travel may be required. The role offers hybrid working: up to three days in office/customer sites, remainder working from home outside inspection qualification blind trials and training sessions.
