As our new Geochemist, you will broaden SLR’s expertise in integrated Mine Water Management, supporting projects and offices across Canada and potentially abroad. We offer a hybrid work arrangement with primarily remote work options for suitable candidates.
Responsibilities- Review and interpret geochemical and mineralogical data, including static testing data related to Acid Base Accounting (ABA) and related data.
- Collaborate with geochemists and scientists to acquire geochemical data and develop inputs to water and contaminant load balance models.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports documenting modelling methodology, input parameters, results, and potential environmental effects.
- Contribute to planning and implementing projects, including QA/QC and the presentation of results in tabular and graphical formats, and preparing reports.

- The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $140,000. Final agreed-upon compensation will be commensurate with education, professional designation, experience, internal parity, and location.

- Minimum five years of experience as Geochemist, including relevant consulting experience in the mining sector and mine waste geochemistry assessment.
- Professional registration or eligibility is required (P.Geo. or P.Eng.).
- Academic background in geology, geochemistry, engineering, biology, or related fields. Master’s degree is an asset.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and provincial regulations and guidelines, preferably with experience in British Columbia, Ontario, Yukon, and/or Northwest Territories mine permitting processes.
- Ability to prepare technical reports in accordance with regulatory guidelines and to communicate with regulatory bodies, industry, and First Nations as needed.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to undertake short-term travel for project meetings and fieldwork.
