Job Description
At WSP, you will work with the wider project team to lead and develop cost‑effective, efficient and innovative solutions to complex problems and create practical designs. You will deliver projects in various stages of maturity, including feasibility studies, concept designs, FEED studies, value engineering and detailed design.
The low‑carbon team provides services to clients from inception through development, construction, operation and decommissioning, supporting projects over the entire lifecycle.
Responsibilities- Lead and develop cost‑effective and innovative electrical solutions for complex projects.
- Deliver projects at stages of maturity: feasibility studies, concept designs, FEED studies, value engineering and detailed design.
- Prepare and develop electrical deliverables such as single line diagrams, cable calculations, cable block diagrams, plant layouts, cable routing, cable containment design, switch gear configuration philosophies and produce bills of materials for electrical systems.
- Work with equipment vendors to develop the design of equipment packages and participate in technical evaluations of vendor designs.
- Collaborate with owners, operators and investors to assess the condition of electrical assets, including capability, risk, opportunity and need for intervention.
- Develop proposals and bids for the electrical, controls and instrumentation (EC&I) discipline and contribute to multi‑disciplinary proposals.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering subject supported by significant postgraduate experience in electrical design, operation, maintenance and testing.
- Chartered Engineer or working towards IEng/CEng and membership of a relevant engineering institute.
- Ability and desire to assume a lead role in the development of electrical deliverables and assessment of assets under construction or in operation.
- Knowledge of design, construction and operation of power and energy projects.
- Proven understanding of the design process and capability to demonstrate working knowledge of brief/scope documents and design concepts; experience producing calculations and commissioning, operation, maintenance and testing of medium and high voltage equipment and systems.
