We are seeking a Project Engineer / Project Manager for municipal infrastructure projects in the Barrie office. The role combines technical design expertise with project management leadership to support successful delivery of municipal projects.
Duties- Collaborate with civil engineers, designers, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated municipal infrastructure projects.
- Lead and contribute to the planning, preliminary and detailed design of road reconstruction, water mains, sanitary and storm sewers, stormwater management systems, culverts, grading, and related infrastructure.
- Prepare and review engineering drawings using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and related tools.
- Develop technical reports, specifications, tender packages, cost estimates, and contract documents; provide professional sealing as required.
- Manage projects from initiation through completion, including scope development, scheduling, budgeting, and financial controls.
- Coordinate approvals with regulatory agencies, municipalities, and utility providers.
- Administer contracts and provide construction support, including site inspections and review of complex works such as live utility connections and commissioning.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders to maintain strong working relationships.
- Participate in business development activities, including proposal preparation and client engagement.
- Mentor and supervise junior engineers, technologists, and design staff.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the Province of Ontario.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from a recognized institution.
- 5–15 years of progressive experience in municipal engineering, preferably within a consulting environment.
- Strong experience in municipal linear infrastructure design, including water mains, sanitary systems, stormwater management, and roadworks.
- Demonstrated project management experience; PMP designation is an asset.
- Knowledge of municipal approvals processes and regulatory requirements.
- Practical understanding of construction methods, sequencing, and constructability.
- Experience with trenchless technologies and tunneling is considered an asset.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office (advanced Excel skills preferred).
- Proven ability to prepare technical reports, proposals, and contract documentation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients and team members.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work within budget constraints.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Other duties as assigned that are relevant to the position.

The salary range for this position is: $85,000.00 – $. Compensation will be determined based on education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business needs.
