About the Role

We are seeking a Flood Risk Consultant to join BMT’s growing Environmental Services team. You will support a range of projects across flood risk, resilience, hydrology and hydraulic modelling, helping clients understand risk, make informed decisions and develop sustainable flood management solutions. Working on projects from strategic flood risk studies and business cases to modelling, mapping and resilience advice, you will deliver technical assessments, prepare clear client outputs and contribute to practical, evidence-based solutions.

Typical work includes flood risk assessments, hydrology and hydraulic modelling, strategic and outline business cases, catchment and coastal studies, and water quality modelling. You will collaborate with colleagues across the UK and internationally, including teams in Australia and Canada, while developing expertise in industry-leading tools such as TUFLOW. The role also offers opportunities to contribute to business development, technical innovation, knowledge sharing and professional engagement with industry-leading conferences and networks.

About

You

You are a curious and collaborative professional who wants to make a positive impact on communities, clients and the environment. You will have experience in flood risk, hydrology or hydraulic modelling, with the ability to analyse data and communicate technical information clearly to a range of audiences. You will hold a degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant discipline and typically have at least two years’ experience in areas such as flood risk, hydrology, hydraulic modelling, GIS or technical reporting.

Experience with TUFLOW, water utilities, local authorities, regulators or infrastructure clients would be advantageous, as would an interest in sustainability, climate resilience, biodiversity net gain or sustainable drainage. Most importantly, you will bring a proactive approach to learning, collaboration and quality delivery, alongside a commitment to creating a more sustainable future. We support professional development and chartership aspirations.

If you are ready to use your skills to help tackle meaningful challenges and contribute to a more sustainable future, we would love to hear from you.
