JOB PURPOSE
Lead Interface Engineer is the role accountable for the overall Interface activities in the FEED EPC phase at home office as well as Execution of the Project Interface activities at site which combines both technical and coordination aspects. The role holder acts as a principal point of contact who liaises with all internal and external stakeholders for various technical inputs and ensuring coordination among multiple parties project packages that is required during the Project design and execution phase.
KEYACCOUNTABILITIES
- Engineering coordination and execution of assigned Interface requirements through close interaction with internal and external parties, stakeholders, end users, contractors; identify, develop, coordinate, expedite, and steward till closure of all project interfaces.
- Coordinate and establish regular interface meetings between contractor and company; lead discussions and frequent coordination operations, material handling operations, and turnaround team for interface activities.
- Provide regular updates on project interfaces to Process Commissioning Manager and furnish monthly and weekly progress reports, proactively identifying interface issues.
- Coordinate and participate in various project‑related interface meetings and activities, ensuring timely completion of battery limit tie‑ins and tie‑ins related to scopes.
- Act as focal point to identify, define, and execute technical physical internal and external interfaces through FEED EPC phase by establishing Interface Point registers; monitor and manage interface point databases, initiate correspondence and agreements to align with interdependency schedules.
- Participate in reviewing project scope of work, implementing strategies, execution plans, constructing strategies, and ensuring design alignment.
- Overall responsibility for interface deliverables including establishing and executing interconnections with existing facilities.
- Ensure HAZOP of battery limit interface points is carried out per project requirements.
- Organise interface meetings with internal and external parties for establishing and finalising interface point registers for multiple disciplines in a timely manner.
- Work closely with FEED EPC contractor interface team and other stakeholders; follow up required interface‑related documentation and feedback from contractor and share with Process Commissioning Manager.
- Highlight shortfalls and seek support from Process Commissioning Manager to avoid schedule delays.
- Focal point for identifying key interfaces between project and existing facilities during shutdown activities; maintain database and review pre‑commissioning and commissioning procedures of various systems.
- Ensure pre‑commissioning and commissioning procedures are prepared on time and reviewed by the company.
- Maintain interface engineering documents, review plan, and performance assessment; evaluate KPIs on a regular frequency (mid‑term and final review).
- Review of interface discipline‑specific concession requests, validate basis of request, impact on technical integrity, and justification before endorsement.
- Monitor and ensure interface discipline‑specific design change management is carried out for all engineering changes with proper multidiscipline impact assessment and control.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent from an accredited university.
- Minimum fifteen (15) years of relevant experience in the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industry, including a minimum of five (5) years preferred in the GCC region.
- At least five (5) years experience in a similar position on major Oil & Gas or Petrochemical projects, managing a team of specialists, senior engineers and engineers.
- Experience in offshore projects, PMC experiences preferred.
- Experience in FEED and EPC phases required; project execution knowledge and engineering standards preferred.
- Promote team working and productive operating climate with a multi‑cultural, multi‑national workforce.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; ability to prioritise tasks.
- Working knowledge of reviews such as PFD, P&, Hazop, and 3D model reviews.
- Expertise in technical report writing, technical coordination procedures, and formal technical correspondence.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and develop interface point design parameters.
- Proficiency in the use of computers and relevant engineering software.
