Salary range: £65,000 to £80,000 per annum (DOE)

Any UK FNC Office
Working pattern:
Flexible hybrid; time split between office, client sites, and remote work.

Frazer‑Nash provides Aviation Certification and safety assurance services to the UK Military Defence sector. We are seeking a senior propulsion engineer or consultant to support the development and delivery of this service, working with a diverse team of aerospace engineers on fixed‑wing, rotary‑wing, crewed and uncrewed air systems. The role involves delivering technical services across the MoD and other domains, supporting airworthiness activities in accordance with the UK Military Aviation Authority (MAA) Regulatory Framework.
The position offers opportunities to broaden experience into civil aviation and to mentor junior engineers.
- Lead technical delivery within programmes.
- Provide propulsion and certification expertise for aircraft.
- Participate in Integrity Working Groups (e.g., Engine or Propulsion SIWG).
- Support initial and continuing airworthiness processes.
- Actively contribute to systems engineering activities, including certification requirements, requirements management, safety and assurance, and test and acceptance.
- Maintain a strong customer‑focused attitude and understand the air‑systems life‑cycle safety aspects.
- Sound engineering experience across multiple disciplines.
- Specialist expertise in aircraft propulsion and certification.
- Proven experience as a Propulsion Engineer SME in an aviation environment.
- Strong understanding of gas turbine engines, fuel systems, and propulsion integration.
- Experience in the aerospace industry and a systems engineering environment.
- Qualified to Chartered Engineer level or working towards it.
- Solid background in national defence or equivalent delivery teams (e.g., National Armaments – Materiel, Defence Equipment & Support).
- Previous or current experience as an engineering consultant (preferred).
- First degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience working within a delivery team or Defence Equipment & Support.
- Frontline engineering experience on a squadron or similar.
- Current or previous engineering consultant role.
All candidates must undergo pre‑employment screening and satisfy UK National Security Vetting clearance criteria.
