Aboutthe Job
Manage offshore operations and base refits, including the planned maintenance of ROV systems. Support ROV maintenance and operations in accordance with policy, procedures and project requirements to ensure efficient management of capital equipment resources. Assist in the preparation of ROV procedures, methodologies and documentation, including risk assessments for ROV operations. Prepare and keep work packages for ROVs up to date, ensuring certifications, insurances, slings and LARS systems are current.
Order spares and consumables ahead of time. Mobilise ROV systems onboard vessels or rigs, providing technical and operational guidance to on‑board personnel.
- Oversee all L&S ROV operations to eliminate hazards for team members, assets and the company.
- Review ROV resource requirements and ensure operations comply with company, IMCA and safety standards.
- Monitor installation of new ROV equipment and modifications, coordinating with the Technical Department and dry‑dock teams.
- Manage renewal of certifications and training for ROV personnel through safety drills and client‑approved courses.
- Evaluate critical ROV equipment, spare parts and consumables to maintain effective stock levels.
- Plan and organise mobilisation for operations, preparing mobilisation plans and training personnel for new assignments.
- Liaise with external parties, clients, port authorities and ROV Management on safety and operational matters.
- Conduct annual dive system audits at all dive stations to ensure equipment is functional and maintained.
- Prepare technical manuals and maintain quality documentation and records for the subsea department.
- Develop and maintain a safety manual covering procedures for the safety and health of the ROV team.
- Lead planning, assessment and review of ROV units’ equipment and systems for optimal performance.
- Maintain communication with Head Office and Station department heads on ROV activities and maintenance.
- Stay informed of company policies, procedures and national and international regulations relating to ROV safety.
- Visit sites to discuss and monitor operational and safety issues with ROV supervisors and clients.
- Attend industry meetings, keeping abreast of international and regional operational and safety issues and contributing to policy development.
- Prepare work packages per ROV, including technical readiness, spares status, certifications and insurances.
- Assist in preparing ROV operational procedures, methodologies and risk assessments.
- Plan the use of relevant sensors and integrate them with the ROV according to project requirements.
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in a relevant discipline (electronics, electrical, mechanical).
- Formal qualification in Safety discipline or adequate experience in Safety (e.g., NEBOSH Diploma, equivalent – optional).
- Recognised internal/lead auditor qualification.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years as an ROV Superintendent.
- National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH).
- Equivalent industrial certification or Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.
- Emergency First Aid at Work and Emergency Response Training Course.
- ISO Lead Auditor qualification or similar is desirable.
- ROV System Audit and Assurance training competency certificate to comply with IMCA R006.
- Valid UAE driver’s licence.
