Job Description
As a Senior Engineer on our Gloucestershire structures team, you will lead projects to design, assess, and maintain highway and infrastructure assets for Gloucestershire County Council (GCC). You’ll work closely with client officers, collaborate across WSP, and contribute directly to strategic decision‑making to deliver value to the county’s users.
You will be integrated into GCC’s team rather than operating as an external consultant, ensuring you have the opportunity to influence project outcomes and shape the delivery of critical infrastructure projects across the county.
A Little More About Your RoleIn this position you will:
- Lead projects to maintain and enhance structures across Gloucestershire, ensuring safety and quality standards are met.
- Work within a professional team to develop highways structures projects, conduct assessments and inspections.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders and colleagues, conveying technical information clearly.
- Contribute to the growth of the structures programme and participate in major projects that expand the county’s transport network.
- Advance towards Incorporated or Chartered status with a professional institution.
- Support and mentor junior team members as required.
- A passion for working on projects that improve local communities.
- A mature approach to Health and Safety, promoting high standards and setting an example for the team, colleagues and clients.
- Experience in the development of highways structures projects, assessments and/or inspections.
- Evidence of being a confident communicator able to convey your point of view and keep stakeholders and colleagues informed.
- Working towards Incorporated or Chartered status with a professional institution.
- A civil engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
