Title: Senior Planning Engineer
Location: Oxford (Hybrid - 3 days on site / Remote working)
Salary: £70-90,000 + car allowance + package

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Planning Engineer to join a highly successful and well-established UK civil engineering main contractor on a £100m infrastructure project based in Oxford. This is a pivotal role within the project team, offering exposure to a complex, high-value scheme and the chance to work with a contractor renowned for delivering major infrastructure across the UK.

As Senior Planning Engineer, you will be responsible for the development, management and control of robust project programmes throughout the full project lifecycle. You will work closely with the Project Manager, commercial team and site delivery teams, providing accurate progress reporting, supporting change management and ensuring compliance with NEC contractual requirements. This role offers a flexible hybrid working arrangement, with three days per week on site and the remainder working remotely.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain and manage detailed project programmes using industry-standard planning software
  • Produce baseline, target and updated programmes in line with project requirements
  • Monitor progress, identify risks and opportunities, and implement mitigation strategies
  • Carry out delay analysis and support compensation event assessments under NEC contracts
  • Provide regular programme updates, reports and dashboards to senior stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively with site, commercial and design teams to ensure accurate planning inputs
  • Support change management, forecasting and project controls processes
Candidate Requirements
  • Extensive civil engineering experience gained within a UK main contracting environment
  • Proven experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects
  • Strong working knowledge and hands‑on experience of NEC forms of contract
  • Advanced planning and programming skills (e.g. Primavera P6 or equivalent)
  • Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a wider project team
