Job Profile

Under the direction of the Branch Senior Project Engineer, the Project Engineer carries out project management and administration for projects in flooding relief and land drainage. The Project Engineer is responsible for the execution, completion and implementation of capital projects including planning, design, consultant selection, contract administration, start-up and turnover. The Project Engineer is also responsible for assisting with annual flood planning activities and for reviewing permits and other applications for flood protection requirements and compliance with the Designated Floodway Fringe Area Regulations, by-laws, or other City standards.

As

the Land Drainage & Flood Protection Project Engineer, you will:
  • Provide overall management and coordination for a project by guiding its direction, managing resources and budgets, overseeing timelines, addressing risks, ensuring effective communication, securing necessary external goods and services, and obtaining required approvals or permits from relevant City and Provincial departments to deliver successful outcomes that meet organizational expectations.
  • Approve permits and other applications for flood protection requirements ensuring compliance with the Designated Floodway Fringe Area Regulations, by-laws, or other City standards.
  • Participate in flood protection response and planning for the City of Winnipeg by analyzing data and conducting field investigations to assess annual flood risks and coordinates emergency…
