Job Summary

As a Black & Veatch early career professional, you’ll be working on sustainable solutions to some of today’s biggest energy challenges, learning the business from a diverse, motivated team of designers, engineers, and project managers. You'll develop and sharpen the skills that will serve you throughout your career. As an Energy Auditing Engineer
, you’ll join a team of multidisciplinary engineers undertaking energy plant (e.g. Biomass Plants, Windfarms etc) audits throughout the United Kingdom.

You’ll be based in our Glasgow city centre office, with the option to work from home 2 days per week once you’ve completed your first 90 days. Regular travel to sites across the UK including Northern Ireland is required, so please note you must be able to drive for this role. This role is open to all early-in-career (0-4 years since graduating) engineers with a BEng in Mechanical / Electrical / Process Engineering.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work effectively on several energy audits concurrently.
  • Undertake engineering and economics analysis of energy projects.
  • Undertake witnessing / inspection of mechanical and electrical commissioning of energy projects.
  • Participate in site visits and client meetings.
  • Liaise with external organisations.
  • Progress to undertake feasibility studies, design, specification and implementation of energy projects.
  • Progress to provide grid connection and compliance support for energy projects.
  • Assist with various marketing and tender initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge areas:

  • Key energy technologies such as; biomass, wind, solar, heat pumps, and battery energy storage.
  • Power generation, transmission and distribution networks.
  • Typical electrical power system studies (Load Flow, Short Circuit, Losses.).
  • Electrical infrastructure and plant specification and arrangement for renewable energy projects
  • Additionally, it would be beneficial to have some knowledge of: power system analysis software such as Dig Silent, PSCAD or ETAP;
    Grid connection and TSO/DNO interfaces;
    Feed in Tariff (FIT) and Renewables Obligation (RO); UK Grid Code.

Skills:

  • Technical analysis
  • Ability to effectively communicate to different stakeholders.
  • Time management is key to this role so an ability to manage multiple tasks throughout your working week is paramount.
  • Highly numerate and well-developed MS Excel skills…
