Reporting to the Vice-President of Process & Commissioning, the Plant Maintenance Expert will serve as the subject matter expert for maintenance and reliability throughout all phases of mining projects, from engineering and detailed design to commissioning, operational readiness, and plant ramp-up.
The successful candidate will ensure that maintainability, reliability, and lifecycle cost considerations are integrated into plant design while supporting clients in developing maintenance strategies, systems, and work processes that maximize equipment availability and operational performance.
Responsibilities
- Provide maintenance and reliability expertise during feasibility studies, basic engineering, and detailed design.
- Review plant layouts and equipment arrangements to ensure safe and efficient maintenance access.
- Evaluate equipment maintainability, reliability, and lifecycle costs during equipment selection.
- Develop maintenance philosophies and strategies for mineral processing facilities.
- Prepare preventive and predictive maintenance programs for mechanical and process equipment.
- Develop maintenance plans, equipment criticality assessments, spare parts strategies, and asset management documentation.
- Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, constructability, and operability workshops.
- Collaborate with process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and commissioning teams to ensure maintenance requirements are incorporated into project execution.
- Support development of operational readiness plans, including maintenance procedures, PM schedules, and maintenance KPIs.
- Assist with CMMS implementation and asset hierarchy development (SAP, Maximo, Pronto, or equivalent).
- Support commissioning activities by validating equipment performance, maintainability, and turnover documentation.
- Develop maintenance training materials and deliver training to client maintenance personnel.
- Participate in troubleshooting during commissioning, startup, and early plant operations.
- Conduct reliability analyses and recommend improvements to increase equipment availability and reduce downtime.
- Support clients during plant ramp-up and optimization phases.
- Travel to project sites in Canada and internationally as required.
Requirement
- Minimum 10 years of experience in industrial plant maintenance, reliability engineering, or maintenance management.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration is considered an asset.
- Experience with in mining, mineral processing, metallurgy, or heavy industrial facilities is strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting EPCM projects is considered a significant asset.
- Strong understanding of rotating equipment, pumps, conveyors, crushers, grinding mills, flotation equipment, thickeners, filtration systems, and associated process equipment.
- Knowledge of reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), FMEA/FMECA, root cause analysis (RCA), and condition monitoring techniques.
- Experience implementing or supporting CMMS platforms such as SAP PM, IBM Maximo, or similar.
- Knowledge of ISO 55000 Asset Management principles is an asset.
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
- Ability to work within multidisciplinary and multicultural project teams.
- Fluency in English is required;
French, Spanish, or Portuguese would be considered assets.

- The position will be based at the G Mining Services office in Brossard.
- Possibility of working in hybrid mode (office and remote work).
- Office located at REM station “Du Quartier”
