The Opportunity

We are looking for a Civil & Structural Engineer to join our team. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives under pressure, works well within a large multidisciplinary team, and is equally comfortable behind a desk or on a dusty mine site. This is not a work-from-home position; you will be where the work is, whether that's our Centurion office or on site with the client.

Core Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to civil and structural engineering scopes on EPCM projects from concept through to construction and commissioning
• Develop and review structural calculations, specifications, drawings, design basis reports, and material take-offs
• Design and analyse steel, concrete, and composite structures including platforms, support steelwork, foundations, and structural steel for mining and processing equipment
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across mechanical, EC&I, civil, and process disciplines
• Conduct site inspections and provide structural engineering support during construction
• Review fabricator and contractor documentation and attend site for technical oversight
• Contribute to design reviews, HAZOPs, and risk assessments
• Support proposal development including man-hour estimates and technical scopes of work
• Ensure compliance with relevant codes and statutory requirements (SANS, OHS Act, MHSA)
• BEng or BSc (Eng) in Civil Engineering with a structural focus from a recognised university; diploma applications will not be considered
• 5–10 years of relevant structural engineering experience
• Mining or heavy industrial project experience is non-negotiable
• Registered with ECSA or actively working toward registration
• Proficiency in structural analysis software (Prokon, STAAD.Pro, or similar)
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD or similar)
• Experience with Autodesk Advance Steel for structural steel detailing is advantageous
• Valid driver's licence; regular site travel is a requirement of this role
• Strong ability to work under pressure within a large, multidisciplinary engineering team
• Willingness to be fully site-based when projects require it
