Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer with strong technical expertise, preferably chartered, to join a dynamic team focused on the design of data centres. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in structural engineering design, with proven experience working on data centre projects and a thorough understanding of UK structural codes. This role requires the ability to lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, including junior engineers and BIM technicians, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
Responsibilities include producing detailed structural designs, writing specifications, and preparing comprehensive technical reports. The successful candidate will be proficient in using structural analysis and design software, with particular familiarity with Master Series and Robot. Strong communication skills and the ability to manage project coordination across disciplines are essential. This is a fully remote position offering flexibility and the opportunity to work on technically challenging projects within a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead structural design for data centre projects in compliance with UK codes and standards Produce technical specifications and high-quality engineering reports Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, including junior engineers and BIM technicians Ensure design quality, technical accuracy, and compliance throughout project phases Collaborate with other disciplines to deliver integrated engineering solutions Mentor and develop less experienced team members
Skills:
Chartered or working towards Chartered status (preferably IStructE or ICE) Strong technical knowledge of structural engineering principles Experience in data centre structural design Knowledge of UK structural codes and standards Proficiency in Master Series and Robot structural analysis software Ability to write clear specifications and detailed technical reports Experience in multi-disciplinary coordination and team leadership Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong organisational and project management abilities Ability to work effectively in a remote, collaborative environment
Software/Tools:
Master Series Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis BIM software (Revit, Navisworks or similar)
Certifications & Standards:
Chartered Engineer status (preferably IStructE or ICE) or significant progress towards chartership Knowledge of UK structural codes and relevant design standards
