About the role
At Balfour Beatty Power T&D, we're growing our Commercial team in Scotland and are looking for multiple Quantity Surveyors to join us on the BBNP (Beauly, Black hillock, New Deer and Peterhead) 400kV Overhead Line Project.
Whether you're an experienced Quantity Surveyor, working towards chartership, or looking to bring your commercial expertise from another sector, we'd love to hear from you.
You can be based from Glasgow, Inverness or Elgin, with flexible travel arrangements to site and hybrid working options available.
Full-time and part-time applications are welcome. We're building our team and are open to different levels of experience, backgrounds and working patterns.
We're not looking for people who have done it all before. In fact, you do not need Power Transmission & Distribution experience or NEC contract experience to be successful in this role. We welcome applications from a range of sectors including construction, infrastructure, utilities, rail, highways, defence, energy and manufacturing.
What you'll be doingAs a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in managing costs and commercial activities across our projects, helping us deliver outstanding outcomes for our customers while maximising value and maintaining quality.
You'll support the Senior Quantity Surveyor and wider commercial team while taking ownership of a range of commercial responsibilities, including procurement, subcontract management, cost control and reporting.
Commercial Management- Managing costs and income within your area of responsibility
- Producing cost reconciliations and commercial reports
- Measuring, recording and valuing work in line with company procedures
- Building estimates from first principles
- Interpreting drawings, specifications and works information
- Supporting customer and stakeholder management activities
- Understanding and monitoring project programmes and commercial performance
- Supporting procurement activities and subcontract enquiries
- Preparing and reviewing tender documentation
- Managing subcontractor relationships and agreements
- Supporting supply chain performance and value delivery
Essential
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience
- CSCS Academically/Professionally Qualified Person Card
- MRICS, MCIOB, MCInstCES, or working towards professional membership
