LET’S TELL YOU MOREWe have an opportunity to join as a Pollution Specialist on a 9 month Fixed Term Contract. This role is responsible for improving Severn Trent Water and Hafren Dyfrdwy's pollution performance by managing Incident Action Plans (IAPs) from start to finish. Working closely with operational teams and regulators, you'll identify incidents requiring an IAP, lead root cause investigations, develop effective corrective and preventative actions, and ensure plans are submitted within regulatory timescales to help prevent repeat pollution incidents.
You’ll take ownership of a portfolio of incidents, gathering and analysing information, engaging stakeholders to secure action delivery, and maintaining strong relationships with the Environment Agency and Natural Resources Wales. A key part of the role is ensuring all plans are of a high quality, evidence-based, and capable of delivering positive regulatory outcomes.
The role also involves tracking the completion and effectiveness of agreed actions, supporting audits and assurance activities, identifying trends to support wider pollution reduction initiatives, and contributing to the continuous improvement of Incident Action Plan processes. You'll work collaboratively across the business, provide support during incident management events where required, and actively participate in internal and industry forums focused on environmental performance and compliance.
This role will be home based, however, regular travel to our Headquarters in Coventry will be required. You’ll work within our Environmental Regulations team. With th is being such a critical role, we’re looking for someone who can join us 37 hours a week.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FORTo be successful you will have experience working within the water industry or a similar environmental regulatory environment, with a strong understanding of pollution incident management and environmental regulation. You will be comfortable analysing complex technical information, producing evidence-based outputs, and working collaboratively across teams to deliver outcomes to demanding deadlines. Experience developing Incident Action Plans (IAPs), pollution investigations, root cause analysis, and knowledge of EA and NRW regulatory frameworks would be advantageous.
This role requires a highly organised and analytical individual with excellent written communication skills and the confidence to influence stakeholders at all levels. You will be capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining high standards of quality, compliance, and attention to detail. Strong IT skills are essential, and you'll need to be comfortable working both independently and as part of a small specialist team.

- Full UK driving licence and advanced IT skills
- Knowledge of wastewater treatment operations and regulatory frameworks
- Degree or equivalent in a scientific, environmental, or engineering discipline
