We are looking for a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor to join our Rail Team working on our Sizewell C project!
This is an excellent opportunity for a QS with solid building or civil engineering experience to play a hands-on role in managing subcontract packages, driving value, supporting cost control and helping deliver a high-profile project to the standards our customers expect.
The role will be split between London and the site office in Leiston, Suffolk.
What you'll be doing- Manage subcontract packages from order completion through to monthly site valuations, variations and final account activity.
- Prepare accurate cost forecasts and contribute to the overall project forecast each month.
- Measure, record and value work in line with relevant rules, procedures and project requirements
- Support procurement activity by gathering information, documenting requirements and managing the commercial steps needed to appoint and manage the supply chain.
- Work closely with internal teams, subcontractors and the client’s surveying team on valuations, variations, payments and commercial reporting.
- Use commercial systems to collate cost and value information, support cost reconciliation and maintain strong financial control.
- Identify opportunities to minimise cost, enhance value for money and maintain the required quality standards.
- A BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Experience in a commercial or quantity surveying role within building, civil engineering or construction.
- Confidence in measurement, valuations, cost forecasting, variations and working with subcontract packages.
- Good knowledge of drawings, specifications, bills of quantities and schedules of rates.
- A structured, analytical approach with strong attention to detail.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with project teams, subcontractors, stakeholders and customers.
- Chartered status, or working towards professional membership of RICS, ICES or CIOB, would be highly desirable.
