Want to See Your Designs Make a Real-World Impact?
Join a growing multidisciplinary engineering business where your civil designs won't simply sit on a drawing board. They'll help shape and enable critical water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the UK.
We're looking for a proactive and technically strong Civil Design Engineer to join CHG Electrical, supporting the design and delivery of civil engineering solutions across clean and dirty water treatment sites.
Working alongside mechanical, electrical and wider engineering specialists, you'll develop everything from below-ground structures and foundations to site layouts, ducting, chambers and temporary works, ensuring designs are practical, buildable and ready for successful delivery.
If you've built your civil design experience within water, utilities or infrastructure and want greater project exposure, collaboration and progression, we'd love to talk.

Who We Are
Founded in Sheffield in 2004, CHG Electrical has more than two decades of engineering heritage. Built on strong electrical engineering foundations, the business has evolved into a multidisciplinary engineering partner delivering complex projects across water utilities, rail, steel and manufacturing.
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to play an important role within CHG's growing design capability, developing civil engineering solutions that enable the successful construction and installation of MEICA equipment across water and wastewater infrastructure.
You'll work across the project lifecycle, developing detailed designs and calculations, supporting constructability and risk reviews and working collaboratively with internal engineering teams, external consultants, suppliers and site teams.
The role goes beyond producing drawings.
You'll consider how your designs will actually be constructed, how they integrate with mechanical and electrical systems and how they can deliver safe, sustainable and cost-effective performance throughout the asset lifecycle.
You'll also have the opportunity to support high-profile AMP and utility infrastructure schemes while continuing to develop your technical expertise within a growing multidisciplinary engineering team.
About You
You'll be an experienced Civil Design Engineer who understands that successful design is about more than technical accuracy. It needs to work safely, practically and efficiently once it reaches site.
You'll ideally have developed your experience within water, wastewater, utilities or infrastructure, giving you a good understanding of the standards, constraints and multidisciplinary coordination involved in complex engineering projects.
You'll be comfortable working independently on your own designs while collaborating closely with engineers, consultants and delivery teams to solve problems and keep projects moving.
You'll Bring:
• A degree, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Around 3-5+ years' civil design experience within utilities, infrastructure or water-related projects.
• Experience producing civil engineering drawings, designs and calculations.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Micro Drainage or equivalent design software.
• Familiarity with WIMES, Sewerage Sector Guidance and Building Regulations.
• A sound understanding of CDM regulations and temporary and permanent works requirements.
• The ability to interpret topographical, geotechnical and structural data.
• Strong understanding of buildability and multidisciplinary design coordination.
• Good technical writing and…
