About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Remote Chemical Process Safety Specialist to join their global team, working from anywhere in South Africa . This critical role involves developing, implementing, and overseeing process safety management (PSM) programs to ensure the safe operation of chemical facilities. You will provide expertise in hazard identification, risk assessment, and the implementation of robust safety protocols across various sites.
The ideal candidate is a proactive safety advocate with extensive knowledge of regulatory requirements and best practices in chemical process safety, capable of influencing safety culture remotely.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive Process Safety Management (PSM) programs aligned with international standards.
- Conduct thorough process hazard analyses (PHA), including HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA studies.
- Develop and implement risk reduction strategies and ensure their effective execution.
- Provide expert guidance on safety aspects of process design, modifications, and operations.
- Review and approve safety-critical procedures and management of change (MOC) processes.
- Investigate process safety incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related safety field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in process safety, specifically within the chemical or petrochemical industry.
- In-depth knowledge of PSM regulations (e.g., OSHA 29 CFR ) and industry best practices.
- Proficiency in conducting various PHA methodologies.
- Experience with consequence modeling software is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team environment.
