Design Mechanical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a creative and skilled Design Mechanical Engineer to contribute to their innovative product development initiatives in Pretoria . This role focuses on conceptualizing, designing, and refining mechanical components and systems that meet specific performance, aesthetic, and manufacturing requirements. You will work closely with R&D, manufacturing, and marketing teams to bring new products from ideation to market launch.

• Conceptualize, design, and develop new mechanical products and systems using advanced 3D CAD modeling software.
• Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and Bill of Materials (BOM) for manufacturing.
• Conduct prototyping , testing, and validation of designs to ensure functionality and performance meet project goals.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to optimize designs for mass production and cost-effectiveness.
• Perform tolerance analysis, stress calculations, and other engineering analyses to ensure design integrity.
• Research and evaluate new materials, technologies, and design methodologies to enhance product innovation.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related design-focused engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in product design and mechanical development.
• Expertise in 3D CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, Inventor, Fusion 360) and associated simulation tools.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, materials science, and design for manufacturability (DFM).>
• Strong portfolio showcasing innovative mechanical designs and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience working within the Gauteng technology or manufacturing sectors is preferred.
