Aviation Safety Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Aviation Safety Officer to bolster their safety management systems in Cape Town . This role is integral to maintaining the highest safety standards across all operational facets. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with national and international aviation regulations. This position requires a proactive approach to risk assessment and mitigation, fostering a strong safety culture throughout the organization.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of aviation safety principles and a passion for continuous improvement in a vibrant Cape Town setting.

• Develop, implement, and maintain the organization's Safety Management System (SMS) .
• Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments across various departments and operations.
• Investigate aviation safety incidents and occurrences, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs to all levels of staff.
• Monitor regulatory changes and ensure the organization's safety policies remain compliant with SACAA and international standards.

• Proven experience in aviation safety management, preferably with an airline or airport operator.
• Strong knowledge of aviation regulations and safety standards (e.g., ICAO, SACAA requirements).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency in developing and presenting safety reports and training materials.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence safety behaviors across the organization in Cape Town .
