About the Role
Our client is looking for a meticulous and innovative Electrical Design Engineer focused on building services to join their expanding team remotely. This role is crucial for conceptualizing and developing electrical systems for a diverse range of commercial, residential, and industrial buildings. You will be responsible for ensuring that all electrical designs meet stringent building codes, energy efficiency standards, and client requirements, contributing to the creation of safe, functional, and sustainable built environments.
Operating from a remote capacity, you will collaborate closely with architects, project managers, and other engineering disciplines across Pretoria and beyond, leveraging digital tools to deliver high-quality electrical engineering solutions.
- Develop detailed electrical design drawings and specifications for power distribution, lighting, emergency systems, and low-voltage systems in buildings.
- Perform load calculations, lighting design, and single-line diagrams using industry-standard software.
- Ensure designs comply with SANS 10142, local regulations, and green building standards.
- Coordinate electrical designs with architectural, structural, and mechanical disciplines to ensure seamless integration.
- Prepare bills of quantities and assist in the tender evaluation process.
- Conduct site visits for design verification and support during the construction phase, as required, even in a remote capacity context.
- BEng or BSc in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical building services design.
- Proficiency in Revit MEP and AutoCAD for electrical design and documentation.
- Strong knowledge of building codes, electrical regulations, and energy efficiency principles.
- Experience with emergency power systems, fire alarm systems, and data/telecom cabling design.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, adept at working in a distributed team environment.
