Our client is seeking a skilled Geotechnical Engineer to support urban development initiatives in Pretoria . This role is integral to assessing ground conditions, providing foundation design recommendations, and managing earthworks for a variety of construction projects. You will be responsible for ensuring the stability and safety of structures by thoroughly understanding soil and rock mechanics. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the sustainable growth of the region and work on diverse projects within a collaborative and technically proficient team environment.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and execute geotechnical investigations, including site reconnaissance, drilling, and in-situ testing.
- Analyze soil and rock samples to determine engineering properties and potential geological hazards.
- Provide expert recommendations for foundation design, slope stability, and earth retention systems.
- Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports detailing findings, analyses, and design parameters.
- Liaise with clients, project managers, and construction teams to address geotechnical issues during project execution.
- Ensure compliance with relevant geotechnical engineering standards and best practices in South Africa.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering;
Master's degree preferred. - Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in geotechnical investigations and design.
- ECSA registration as a Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) or Professional Engineering Technologist (Pr. Tech. Eng.).
- Proficiency in geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, Geo Studio, or similar.
- Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles relevant to urban construction.
- Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.
