About the Role
Our client is looking for a skilled Electrical Engineer with expertise in Automation and Control Systems to join their remote team, supporting operations in the Stellenbosch region and beyond. This role is crucial for enhancing the efficiency, safety, and reliability of industrial processes through advanced automation solutions. You will work on challenging projects, from system design and programming to implementation and ongoing support, all within a flexible, remote-first work environment.

- Design, program, and implement complex automation and control systems using PLC, SCADA, and HMI technologies.
- Develop detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and network configurations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve automation-related issues remotely, minimizing production downtime.
- Collaborate closely with clients and internal teams to define automation strategies and project requirements.
- Conduct virtual commissioning and testing of control systems prior to deployment.
- Stay abreast of emerging automation technologies and recommend system enhancements.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial automation, with strong proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Logix).
- Expertise in SCADA/HMI software and industrial communication protocols (e.g., Profibus, Ethernet/IP).
- Experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs) and motion control systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose issues remotely.
- Strong communication skills for effective virtual collaboration.
