Senior Geo-Environmental Consultant sought at this successful Medium-sized Ground Investigation Company. The role is based in Northwich.

They are looking for a Senior Geo-Environmental Consultant to join the Northwich team, offering excellent opportunities for rapid career progression. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years' relevant background, strong technical expertise, and a proactive, team-focused approach.

In this role, you will manage diverse projects involving both site and office work, including ground investigations, contaminated land assessments, geotechnical design, remediation strategies, and due diligence surveys for clients across property development, infrastructure, and construction sectors. This is an exciting chance to work on varied, high-impact projects within a talented and supportive team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of geo-environmental and geotechnical standards, legislation, and best practices; mentor junior staff.
  • Ensure health and safety compliance across projects.
  • Manage and deliver ground investigations, including project planning, delegation, and client liaison.
  • Prepare proposals, tenders, and manage project finances.
  • Produce and review technical reports:
    Phase I/II assessments, risk assessments, ground gas, geotechnical analyses, and remediation strategies.
  • Oversee remediation verification, earthworks, and materials/waste management (including CL:AIRE DoWCoP).
  • Apply soil mechanics principles for foundation design and settlement calculations.
  • Check and approve junior staff outputs, improve templates and processes.
  • Build client relationships and communicate effectively with stakeholders and regulators.
  • Contribute to internal policies and ISO-compliant procedures.
Requirements
  • Approximately 5+ years of relevant background in geo-environmental or geotechnical consultancy.
  • Undergraduate degree (2:1 or above) in a relevant subject such as geology, environmental science, geotechnical engineering, civil engineering, physical geography, or similar.
  • Excellent IT skills, with high proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong problem-solving and contingency planning abilities, with a flexible and innovative approach to finding practical solutions.
  • A strong work ethic and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Postgraduate degree or Master’s in a relevant subject is advantageous.
  • Chartered status (or working towards it) is desirable.
  • Background with specialist software packages such as AutoCAD, Holebase, Surfer, Geo5, or similar is beneficial.
  • Full UK driving licence (manual transmission).
