You will take responsibility for the commercial management of mechanical and electrical packages throughout the project lifecycle, working closely with project teams, subcontractors, suppliers and key stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:- Commercial management of M&E subcontract packages
- Procurement and management of M&E subcontractors and suppliers
- Preparing, reviewing and agreeing valuations, applications and payments
- Managing variations, change control and commercial risk
- Cost reporting and forecasting
- Supporting the development and management of project budgets
- Reviewing subcontract accounts and monitoring commercial performance
- Negotiating with subcontractors and suppliers
- Managing the preparation and agreement of final accounts
- Identifying opportunities for value engineering and cost savings
- Providing commercial advice and support to the wider project team
- Ensuring contractual and commercial processes are followed throughout the project
We are looking for an experienced Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in mechanical and electrical building services, ideally gained within a main contracting environment.
You will ideally have:- Strong experience managing M&E commercial packages
- Previous experience working on major construction projects
- Strong knowledge of subcontract procurement and commercial management
- Experience with valuations, variations, forecasting and final accounts
- Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- A good understanding of construction contracts and commercial processes
- The ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively to a wider project team
- Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline
- Appropriate CSCS certification
Experience working on large-scale, complex or public-sector projects would be advantageous.
The role will be based on a major MoD construction project in the East Midlands, offering the opportunity to work on a significant project within a highly controlled and commercially demanding environment.
The position offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing a combination of working from home and attending site as required.
Due to the nature of the project, the successful candidate will be required to undergo national security vetting and a full UK security check.
