About the Role
Our client is expanding its engineering capabilities and is seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Engineer to join their fully remote team, serving projects across South Africa, including Cape Town . You will be instrumental in designing and analyzing the structural integrity of various building projects, ensuring safety, stability, and compliance with all relevant codes and standards. This position offers the flexibility of remote work combined with the challenge of contributing to impactful construction and infrastructure developments.
You will collaborate with a distributed team of professionals, utilizing cutting-edge software and innovative design techniques to deliver exceptional engineering solutions from your home office.
- Perform structural analysis and design for a variety of building types, including residential, commercial, and industrial structures.
- Develop detailed structural drawings, specifications, and calculations using advanced engineering software.
- Ensure designs comply with national and international building codes, standards, and best practices.
- Collaborate effectively with architects, project managers, and other engineering disciplines in a virtual environment.
- Conduct technical reviews of designs prepared by junior engineers and provide constructive feedback.
- Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in structural engineering and construction materials.
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in structural engineering design.
- Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA or eligibility for registration.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., SAP
2000, ETABS, Prokon) and CAD software. - Demonstrated experience in designing with steel, concrete, timber, and masonry.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote setting.
