About the Role
Our client is expanding its team and seeking a highly skilled Remote Geotechnical Engineer to support mining operations across various locations, with a focus on projects in the Western Cape region and beyond. In this fully remote role, you will provide expert geotechnical analysis and advice to ensure the stability and safety of mine excavations, slopes, and infrastructure. You will leverage advanced modeling techniques and data analysis to assess risks and develop mitigation strategies, collaborating virtually with site-based teams, engineers, and management to deliver critical insights from your home office.

- Perform detailed geotechnical assessments of open-pit slopes, underground excavations, and mine waste facilities.
- Develop and implement geotechnical monitoring programs using various instrumentation and data acquisition methods.
- Conduct numerical modeling and analysis of slope stability, rock mechanics, and ground support systems.
- Provide expert technical advice and recommendations on geotechnical risks and mitigation strategies to project teams.
- Review and interpret geotechnical data from site investigations, drilling, and testing.
- Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, presentations, and design documentation for review.
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering, with a strong focus on the mining industry .
- Proficiency in geotechnical modeling software such as FLAC, Plaxis, or similar finite element analysis tools.
- Solid understanding of rock mechanics, soil mechanics, and slope stability principles.
- Experience with geotechnical data analysis, interpretation, and reporting.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote setting .
