You dont already need to be an Instrument Commissioning Engineer. The company is prepared to train and develop someone with the right electrical background, practical ability and attitude. The successful Junior Instrument Commissioning Engineer will be home based and need to live in Yorkshire. Youll travel directly from home to customer sites across the region, with work planned geographically wherever possible to minimise unnecessary travelling.
Youll work alongside experienced engineers and gradually develop your knowledge of instrumentation, commissioning and control systems. Key aspects of the Junior Instrument Commissioning Engineer role include:
Learning how to commission, configure, test and calibrate industrial instrumentation Developing experience with equipment such as flow meters and level measurement instrumentation Carrying out site surveys and helping establish requirements for upcoming projects Supporting commissioning and testing activities on customer sites Working alongside experienced Commissioning Engineers, electrical contractors and other site teams Developing an understanding of PLCs, SCADA and industrial control systems Working directly with customers and contractors as your experience develops Typically arriving on site around 8:00-8:30am and, on normal days, leaving around 3:30-4:00pm Paid overtime when projects require additional hours, although extensive overtime isnt expected The successful Junior Instrument Commissioning Engineer will need: A recognised electrical apprenticeship or electrical qualification this is essential Practical experience working as an Electrician, Maintenance Electrician, Electrical Technician or similar A good understanding of industrial electrical equipment Hands-on fault-finding and problem-solving skills An interest in developing a career within instrumentation and commissioning Willingness to learn new equipment and technology Willingness to work outdoors on operational sites throughout the year Good communication skills and the confidence to deal with customers and contractors A full UK driving licence Previous instrumentation or commissioning experience would be useful, but isnt essential.
The client is more interested in finding someone with a solid electrical foundation who wants the opportunity to learn and develop. Candidates could come from manufacturing, maintenance, utilities, process plants, industrial engineering or other electrically biased environments.
