Join an experienced Marine Consenting and Environment (MC&E) team delivering planning, consenting and compliance services for some of the most significant and technically challenging offshore infrastructure projects in the UK and internationally. This includes leading Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and Habitat Regulation Assessments (HRA) and associated post-consent compliance requirements.
Purpose& Scope of the Role
As a Principal Marine Environmental Consultant
, you’ll play a key role in delivering and managing planning and consent applications, managing and coordinating EIAs and HRAs, and undertaking post-consent compliance requirements for offshore wind, associated developments, and other marine infrastructure projects.
You’ll contribute to projects that support the continued development of offshore renewable energy, working within a team with extensive experience delivering planning and consent applications for major offshore wind developments across the UK and internationally.
At Principal level, you’ll be expected to take ownership of project delivery including programme management and budget oversight, build trusted client and stakeholder relationships, mentor colleagues and contribute to the continued growth of our marine consenting capability.
Core Capabilities- EIA & Technical Delivery:
Lead and coordinate EIAs and HRAs for complex offshore wind and marine infrastructure projects, producing and reviewing high-quality environmental reports and assessments. - Marine Consenting:
Help clients navigate marine consenting requirements, managing consent activities and supporting projects through EIA and HRA, planning and consent applications and post-consent compliance. - Project & Commercial Management:
Manage the technical and commercial delivery of projects, coordinating multidisciplinary specialists and maintaining quality, programme, client expectations and relationships. - Stakeholder & Client Engagement:
Build effective relationships with clients, regulators, statutory consultees, nature conservation bodies and other stakeholders, communicating complex environmental information clearly. - Team & Business Development:
Mentor and support junior colleagues while contributing to client relationships, proposals, bids and new opportunities for the team. You’ll have the opportunity to line manage one or more members of the team.
You’ll have a relevant environmental degree and strong knowledge of the EIA, HRA and consenting processes. You will have marine environment application experience for projects located in England and Wales (i.e. DCO) or projects located in Scotland (i.e. Scottish Marine Licence). Experience of marine consent compliance is also desirable. Consultancy and EIA project management experience is important, alongside experience working with multidisciplinary technical specialists and environmental stakeholders.
Strong programme management experience is required, with some experience of budget management. You’ll be a confident communicator with strong written presentation skills andsome experience of managing budgets.
Hybrid working in Edinburgh, Woking, Chepstow, or Aberdeen or home working can also considered. We may consider part time (4 days per week minimum) depending on client need.
