About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Geotechnical Engineer to join their growing team in Cape Town . You will play a crucial role in evaluating subsurface conditions and designing foundations and earthworks for a variety of infrastructure and building projects. This role involves a blend of fieldwork and office-based analysis, requiring you to work collaboratively with site teams and design engineers.
The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a thorough understanding of soil mechanics and rock mechanics, contributing to the successful execution of projects across the Western Cape and beyond, in a dynamic and supportive engineering environment.
- Plan and execute subsurface investigations, including soil borings, CPTs, and geophysical surveys.
- Perform detailed geotechnical analyses for foundations, retaining walls, slopes, and other geotechnical structures.
- Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, including recommendations for design and construction.
- Oversee construction activities related to earthworks, foundation installations, and ground improvement.
- Collaborate with project managers, clients, and contractors to address geotechnical challenges and ensure project success.
- Utilize specialized geotechnical software for modeling and analysis.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in geotechnical investigations and design.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, Geo Studio, or similar.
- Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and site investigation techniques.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in both field and office settings.
- Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA is an advantage.
