About the Role

Our client is seeking a specialized Building Envelope Specialist Architect to join their expert team, operating primarily remotely with occasional site visits required. This niche role focuses on the design, analysis, and specification of building envelopes to optimize performance, durability, and energy efficiency. You will work on challenging projects, providing critical technical expertise on facade systems, waterproofing, insulation, and air barriers.

This position is ideal for an architect with a deep understanding of materials science and construction detailing, offering significant autonomy and the ability to work from a remote location.

• Design and specify high-performance building envelope systems, including facades, roofs, and foundations.
• Conduct thermal, moisture, and energy analysis for building envelopes.
• Prepare detailed specifications and drawings for envelope components and assemblies.
• Collaborate with project teams to resolve complex envelope-related design and construction issues.
• Perform site reviews and forensic investigations of existing building envelopes.

• Professional Architect qualification (PrArch) with specialized experience.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience with a focus on building envelope design and construction.
• In-depth knowledge of facade engineering , materials, and testing standards.
• Proficiency in relevant analysis software and BIM for envelope detailing.
• Strong understanding of South African building codes and performance requirements.
